The tourism businesses survey conducted by the Riga Tourism Development Bureau (RTDB) indicates an increasing number of tourists in Riga in August 2011. The average hotel occupancy rate in Riga has increased by 19%, reaching 78.4%. The number of incoming cruise passengers in the Riga Passenger Terminal has increased by 37%, while the number of passengers serviced by the Riga Internationl Airport has increased by 6% and the number of reimbursed Tax Free receipts has increased by 159%.

According to the statistical data provided by the Central Statistical Bureau, the number of foreign visitors registered in the hotels and other dwellings in Latvia during the first half of the year has reached 444,930, which represents an increase of nearly 31% compared to the same period last year.
